Scarified Dunmer Complexions

**DESCRIPTION**
Adds three different decorative scar patterns to each gender as selectable complexions for Dark Elves. There are scarred versions of all vanilla complexion options (Default, Freckled/Rough, Middle Age, Old) for a total of 15 new female and 18 new male complexion options available at character creation. Also increases resolution of male Dark Elf face normal maps. There is an optional NPC replacer to add these new scar patterns to NPCs in the world.


Installation:
Use 7Zip or WinRar to extract the files.
Move the Data folder to your Skyrim folder (Steam\Steamapps\Common\Skyrim or wherever your game is installed).
Choose to merge and overwrite any files when prompted.


Usage:
Activate "Scarified Dark Elves.esp" if you want the complexions available to player and also applied to NPCs. This version of the mod may conflict with other NPC-altering mods such as Nuska's Ethereal Elven Overhaul.

Activate "Scarified Dark Elves No NPCs.esp" if you want the player option ONLY. This version will have greater compatibility, but you will be the only scarified Dark Elf in all of Skyrim!

Use ONLY ONE .esp file - they are completely independent of each other.


Known Bugs:
The Normal maps for these faces were created in Photoshop rather than exported from a 3D modeling program, and are therefore imperfect. In some lighting, from some angles, the decorative scars may cast excessively dark shadows or appear blurry. This is not an issue I am able to fix with the resources available to me. In most situations these small imperfections will not be apparent and it is up to you whether they should be considered bothersome.


Compatibility:
May conflict with mods that alter the Dark Elf race.

WILL conflict with Nuska's Ethereal Elven Overhaul as it modifies the same NPC faces.

Will NOT conflict with most mods that re-texture faces EXCEPT for male Dark Elf normal maps. However, reinstalling your male face retexture after installing this mod will restore whatever you had before, though in that case your male Dark Elves may appear mismatched between those that are and are not directly altered by this mod, as the increased-resolution normal map included with Scarified Dunmer is subtler than other male normal map replacements. It is up to you whether to reinstall your previous male face retexture or not; if you do not, then your old retexture will still display on every NPC who is not a Dark Elf.

If you use any mods that alter these NPCs for reasons of scripting, quests, or any other non-cosmetic purpose then it is recommended that you load those mods AFTER this one; the NPC will lose his/her new face but will at least function properly for the purpose of the other mod.



Uninstall:
