Skyrim

About this mod

A ENB compilation of four different presets branded "The Mistveil" to provide the player unique and fascinating atmospheres in Skyrim, based on the seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Permissions and credits

The Mistveil ENBs born from a simple concept: to give the players a specific atmosphere for their Skyrim, based on the 4 seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn.
Every preset has its own personality, focus and obviously its own setting files.
The four presets are meant to use almost all ENB's features, so they could be quite demanding in terms of performance.
However you are free to ask tips and advice to increase the performances, but keep in mind "asking is lawful, answering is courtesy"

First of all you need the supported binaries (wrapper version only) on ENBDev, but you can use the binaries starting from the .217/.221, downloadable from Beautiful Skyrim.
Very Important!
1)Clean your Skyrim folder from every ENB file you were using before, especially injector.ini because it is not needed and causes graphic issues.
I also suggest you to delete the folder named enbseries because certain presets' files can conflict with The Mistveil ENB, since it uses its own.
2)Go to MyDocuments/MyGames/Skyrim and edit Skyrimprefs.ini as it follows:

bFloatPointRenderTarget=1

bTreesReceiveShadows=1

bDrawLandShadows=1

bShadowsOnGrass=1

Now we can proceed to the Installation process:

 • Download one of the four presets
 • Extract all the files in Skyrim's MAIN folder
 • VERY IMPORTANT open enblocal.ini and find the line VideoMemorySizeMb=3072, you have to manually put your VRAM value by using one of the following formulas (credit to Zeroking):VRAM + RAM - 2048 -or- VRAM + (RAM/2) - 2048 -or- VRAM
 • Play

For more info Jawz ENB Guide

If you wanna update to binary .250/.260: download the archive under "UPDATES" and
follow the instruction written above.

Latest binaries supported: .250 and .260
To use the latest ENB's feature you need a water mod compatible, at the moment I know of:
WATER - Water And Terrain Enhancement Redux
Pure Waters

Before installing a new enb preset I suggest you to do a clean uninstallation of the previous ENB preset:

 • remove all the enb files and folders inside Skyrim's main folder,
 • delete Rendererinfo.txt and the 2 ini files (Backup them first!),
 • start the game from the Launcher and choose your video settings,
 • close the game, put your backup inis back in MyDocuments/Games/Skyrim
 • Play with the new preset

Still doubts about how to install the ENB? Check this video by Hodilton:

This is a list of the mods I personally used while tweaking, they are not strictly necessary but for the best visual I recommend you to download them:
Mindflux's Particles Patch
Revamped Exterior Fog
Enhanced Lights and FX (NO ELFX - Exteriors.esp)

These are the mods I consider useful for enhancing your Skyrim experience and that works well with The Mistveil presets, give them a look!

If you need assistance you can ask on this modpage, I'll do my best to help you (or if not me, the most experienced users will), I ask you to read carefully the Installation instruction or eventually the FAQ that I'll try to update regularly.
Please use the "SEARCH" button before asking.

- Is it compatible with CoT or other weather mods?
I don't use them and I haven't tweaked these preset on those mods, so I suggest you to NOT use them.
If you do and the presets have issues or they don't look as they would, it's on you.

- Is it compatible with Lightning Overhaul mods?
The only one is ELFX and ONLY the esps for interiors, like I wrote above.
You are free to try them, but I can't guarantee the result and I'll not take responsability for it.

- I have a big performance drop, what can I do?
First of all, check the enblocal.ini's VideoMemorySize, have you followed the formulas I wrote? Have you tried all three of them?
Consider that The Mistveil can be demanding on AMD graphic card, but usually what hits more the performance are these values in enbseries.ini:
EnableSkyLighting=true
EnableReflection=true
EnableDepthOfField=true
EnableAmbientOcclusion=true
You can try set them to "false" starting from the first one, you'll probably lose some visual quality but you'll gain some FPS.
Another way to improve performance is disabling injFX.h by editing this line in SweetFX_settings.txt:
external_d3d9_wrapper = d3d9_Sharpen.dll -> change to "none"
This will also speed up the loading screens, at cost of color precision and sharpening.
Don't expect miracles, though.

- The nights are too dark!
Use torches, magelight, candlelight.. the nights in these presets are supposed to be dark, yes.
And I will not change them.

- The shadows are too dark!
This is something I concede to change, go in enbseries.ini and find these lines:
[SKYLIGHTING]
AmbientMinLevelSunrise
AmbientMinLevelDay
AmbientMinLevelSunset
AmbientMinLevelNight
AmbientMinLevelInteriorDay
AmbientMinLevelInteriorNight
The higher the values, the brighter the shadows. But WATCH OUT! It will change ALL the shadows in that specific daytime! Nights aren't affected!

- What mod are you using in the picture xxx ?
I put the author name in the picture, you have the links of their profile below, ask them directly. That's the best I can do to help you about this ^^'

- Are you the same Modd3r from Differently Ebony and Glass Variants? When Cabal120 will release *randomtexture* ?
Ehm.. yes I am, but this isn't very related to The Mistveil ENB, isn't it?

My personal thanks to the following people, which helped me and supported me:
Kyokushinoyama - the master, the shishou, the one from who I learned what I know about the ENB and its tweaking.
anaphiel - it all started one day when I asked "how can I increase The Goddess ENB contrast?", I took the first steps after that moment.
JoPineapple68 - First ENB preset played, first time as a ENB tester. Dark ENB is what inspired me in making The Mistveil ENB.

All the people that tested, gave me feedback and spammed on Nexus and Flickr my presets in the last week and before:
