Skyrim

-ASIS & Deadly Dragons-

"ASIS" is short for Automatic spells & Increased spawns, but the mod does much more than that. ASIS introduced randomly increased weighted spawn counts, gives perks to NPC that they otherwise wouldn't (and should) have, allows them to use spells from mods, and injects some serious brainpower into the AI. This mod makes Skyrim's general NPC's and creatures more difficult in the right ways. Not arbitrarily increasing health & damage values and nerfing your own (like 95% of games out there nowdays), but making enemies smarter, in slightly greater numbers, and giving them more tools to use against you.

Now, there are two functions of this mod that you don't want to interact with Deadly Dragons. To allow D.D. to function as intended and prevent spell-casting NPC's from gaining spells they shouldn't have or spawning a half-dozen dragons through the DD's "Assault" system, it's required you make the following modifications to ASIS' included .ini files.

Go into the "IncreasedSpawns.ini" file, find the [NPCReducedSpawnSettings] header, remove the line "dragon=5". Now, add "Dragon" to the [NPCExclusions] header

Go into the "AutomaticPerks.ini" file, find the [NPCExclusions] header, now add "Dragon" into it.

That's it. Very simple and should take you less than 2 minutes. Again, if you don't do this, MANY dragons will spawn through the Assault timer, general NPC spell-casters will acquire spells intended to be used by level +50 dragon types, and all dragons will gain multiple perks and further increase there health, damage, and armor values automatically, making them more difficult by default. These are things that you either don't want general NPC's to have, or that DD covers on it's own. So I HIGHLY recommend that you both use ASIS and make these quick & easy tweaks to the .ini files it comes with.

ASIS is an incredible mod and one of the few that I absolutely can't play without on serious playthroughs. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have, big thanks to Plutoman for all of his hard work on this, I love you man. ;)

Some people seem to still be confused. So let me be absolutely clear by asking the following questions, and depending on how you answer, will depend on whether or not you want to use this:

    1) Do you use ASIS?
    * If Yes, continue to question #2
    * If No, close this page, you're clearly lost.

    2) Do you use Deadly Dragons?
    * If Yes, continue to question #3
    * If No, close this page, you don't need this tweak.

    3) Do you use Deadly Dragon's Assault system?
    * If Yes, USE THIS TWEAK!
    * If No, then DO NOT use this tweak.
    * If you're unsure, then chances are you do, and you should become more familiar with the mods you're using before installing anything else. Know your mods, understand them, and then start back at question #3 again.

Hope this helps people who are unsure.

Erm, kinda wrong on that last part.
This tweak also makes it so DD's Spells and Perks aren't applied by ASIS, and vise versa, as it would create OP dragons and NPCS by allowing them access to things they should not have.

In otherwords, unless you want to be frost breathed by an NPC at level 10, Use this tweak.

Was about to come here say what UnstableNatsu just did.
If you simply use Deadly Dragons *and* ASIS, use this tweak. It's basically a compatibility patch.

Uhhhhh, with [Asis Improves INI Files] http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/53047/? I'm pretty sure you don't need to do this anymore... I think?

Incredibly solid information. I'm going to add this info to a Guide I'm writing for newbie modders and will credit you for this bit. So many new modders see ASIS and lay a golden egg with excitement at the prospect of playing with it, but often never set it all up properly. This will make a great chapter for the guide. Thank you again.

I know this is considered a bug these extra spawns. But one time I had 4 dragons attack Whiterun at the same time. It all started right while I was talking to those Alkir men looking for Saadia. But what was really cool about it is that one of the dragons swooped down and grabbed the guard standing right next to me. I looked down and only his crossbow was laying there. With these four dragons flying around causing havok it was awesome.

This happened to me today. Hilarious, completely unrealistic w.r.t vanilla, and extremely difficult to overcome, even with a platoon of guards. I'm likely forced to reload. Not sure exactly what's causing this besides ASIS (my Deadly Dragons assault feature is off).

This actually keeps happening to me, too- and I love it. I feel it makes sense that Alduin would send in 3 more dragons to Whiterun to stamp out any challenges, so I let it slide.

I'd like to point out that the non-spawn part of this article is a little outdated. The way Perks and SPells work now has changed in the more recent versions of ASIS, so that shouldn't be an issue anymore.

Is this fix still required? ASIS already puts Deadly Dragons.esp under mod exclusion category.

I am curious as well. It has dragons set to spawn rate =3 on mine. It says to remove that line, but I kinda like fighting a lot of dragons at once.

Yes, it is still necessary if you plan to use the Assault system.

I am not seeing these exclusions in the default .ini files in the latest (1.4 test) version of ASIS. If they were included at some point, they seem to be missing now.

In response to post #11327987. #11739603, #11787785, #11920680, #12331060, #13228828 are all replies on the same post.

These are still required within the new ASIS ini files and you should also be using the ASIS Improved INI FIles:

And yes, they're required only when using the Assault System part of Deadly Dragons, which most people do use because they like fighting multiple dragons. The problem with the not adding these exclusions while also using the Assault is that it would multiple these variables together, so instead of that Assault with only the intended 3 dragons, you actually got 15.
